Mary Ann lvd @ Bromwich, Staff. Eng where they joined the LDS Ch. In 1865 they decided to emigrate with the Saints to UT in 1856 by way of a handcart Co. Suffered great hardships from lack of food and early snows in Wy. James d in Wy bef help from
SLC reached them. Mary Ann, was expecting a 4th ch. She & her 3 ch were helped to their destination by James' aged father, William, pulling their handcart into SLC. In the process, William's feet were badly frozen and he d shortly aft their arrival in SLC. Mary Ann's 4th ch was b Dec 10th. Later, Mary Ann md Richard Birch (bro to her husb) as a plural wife. The fam moved to Coalville and then to Hoytsville.
