Robert Edwards (b.1827) married Elizabeth Huntington (b.1830) 19 Aug 1855 in Yorkshire County, England. They had eleven children, the first six being born in Yorkshire. Their seventh child, David, was born in Norwick. It was at this time that that Robert Edwards became ill and had been recommended by his doctor to take an ocean voyage as an attempt to heal him. He left his family behind, traveling to Utah, planning to earn sufficient money and send for his family. He left Liverpool, England 30 Jun 1868 on the Minnesota, arriving New York City 12 Jul 1868. The story turns very interesting at this point as their eighth child, Jesse, was born in Worcestershire 19 Feb 1869. This means it is highly unlikely Robert even knew his wife was pregnant when he left her and the seven children behind. After the birth of Jesse, Elizabeth and the remaining children were able to gather enough funds for their journey and departed Liverpool 22 Sep 1869 on the Manhattan. Six days later while mid-voyage Jesse died at the age of seven months, his father nevering knowing (at the time) he had been born. The family finally arrived New York City 7 Oct 1869. From here the family traveled by rail all the way to Ogden, Utah, on the new rail line. After arrival at Ogden the family traveled by wagon team some 235 miles to the south to Greenville, Utah, where they then settled. Exactly nine months after arrival into the United States their ninth child, Nephi, was born at Greenville. The tenth child, George Henry Edwards, was born also born at Greenville. Family records indicate their last child, Annie, was born in Morgan County, Utah (near Ogden) in 1876, but we have yet to identify why she was born that far away from home. Robert and Elizabeth eventually settled Beaver, Utah where they remained the rest of their lives. They are both buried in the Mountain View Cemetery at Beaver.
