Aaron Wills House
Status: LocatedPhoto of the Aaron Wills house at Rancocas, Burlington Co, New Jersey. The original structure was built by Dr. Daniel Wills between 1682 and 1700, then rebuilt in 1786. The home was willed to his son, John. John willed the home to his son, Daniel. Daniel willed the home to his sone, Daniel, who in turn willed it to his brother, Aaron. Aaron willed the home to his son, Samuel. Samuel willed the plantation to his son, Daniel. Daniel willed the "farm" to his son, William. After William's death his administrators sold the home by deed to Amos Gibbs. The home was then passed to Samuel L. Walker, to William H. Walker, to Catherine Coumbe, to W. J. Boyd, to Alfred Bauman, to Frank McIlvaine, who was the owner at the time of the 1940 survey. The home was rebuilt in 1786 when Aaron and Rachel Wills owned the plantation, the hearth bearing the initials "AWR." Photo by HABS (Library of Congress), research by Chad G. Nichols

Status: LocatedIllustration of the steamship Abyssinia, the ship that brought several Stone family members to the United States in 1882. The Abyssinia was built by J. & G. Thomson, Glasgow for the British and North American Royal Mail Steam Packet Co. (later Cunard Steam Ship Co). She was a 3,376 gross ton ship, 363.5 feet (length) x 42.2 feet (beam), straight stem, one funnel, three masts(rigged for sail), iron construction, single screw and a speed of 13 knots. She launched 3 Mar 1870. She started her maiden voyage 24 May 1870 when she left Liverpool for Queenstown (Cobh) and New York. She started her last voyage on this service 18 Sep 1880 and was returned to the builders in part payment for the new ships Servia and Catalonia. She was sold to the Guion Line and commenced Liverpool - Queenstown - New York sailings on 20 Nov 1880 and in 1882 was fitted with compound engines. Her last voyage on this route started 27 Mar 1886 and between 1887 to 1891 she ran on the Pacific for Canadian Pacific Line. She resumed Liverpool - Queenstown - New York route 28 Nov 1891 and on 13 Dec 1891 she left New York for Liverpool, but was destroyed at sea by fire 18 Dec 1891. Status: LocatedPhoto of the Alaska, the ship on which the Kylen family immigrated to the United States in 1892. She was 6,932 gross tons, 500 feet (length) x 50 feet (beam), two funnels, four masts, iron hull, single screw, and a speed of 16 knots. Built by John Elder & Co (Glasgow), launched for the Guion Line of Liverpool 15 Jul 1881. Maiden voyage was 30 Oct 1881. Laid up in Gareloch from 1894 to 1897. She was chartered to Cia Transatlantica de Espana and renamed Magallanes until 1898 when she was again laid up in the Clyde. She was sold for scrap in 1899, but resold and used as an accomodation ship at Barrow until 1902 when she was scrapped at Preston [History provided in North Atlantic Seaway by N.R.P.
